Abstract

ABSTRACT During the COVID-19 pandemic, the USDA offered school meals to all students. The purpose of this study was to understand parent perspectives of school meals for all during the pandemic in a conservative state. This was an exploratory qualitative case study conducted in Utah. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with parents (n = 16) of K-12 students. Three themes emerged: (a) Conservation of family resources, (b) School meals for all quality, and (c) School meals for all and the future. Parents indicated school meals reduced stigma, provided financial and time benefits to families. Most parents supported the continuation of school meals for all.
