Abstract

A novel procedure for parent austenite orientation reconstruction from ferrite maps generated by automatic crystal orientation mapping (ACOM)-transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is proposed and applied to a martensitic bearing-steel subjected to very high cycle fatigue. It enables to counteract the presence of indexing uncertainties in phase and orientation by assuming the appearance of 180°-rotation artefacts.
