Abstract

The simplest parafermi model is shown to be equivalent to a theory with two types of ordinary fermions that are dynamically indistinguishable. Also, a unified theory of identical particles is proposed that encompasses theories arising both from the permutation-symmetry approach of the first-quantized theory and from the parastatistics commutation-relation approach of second-quantized theory. Using this theory cluster properties are shown to be compatible with parastatistics.
