Abstract

Parasitism of female palestriped flea beetles, Systena blanda Say, by Howardula sp. nematodes (Nematoda: Allantonematidae) causes a significant reduction of longevity and a slight, but statistically non-significant reduction of sugarbeet foliage consumption. In 1977 and 1978 ca. 30% of the female beetles were parasitized by nematodes. In 1978, Microctonus epitricis Viereck (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) also parasitized female beetles, causing a significant reduction in foliage consumption. The reproductive female nematode is illustrated.
