Abstract

Invasion of Phytophthora cinnamomi oospores, P. parasitica oospores, and/or P. parasitica chlamydospores by one or more fungal parasites was observed in seven of eight southern California soils tested. Catenaria anguillulae was isolated from invaded oospores of P. cinnamomi used as bait in a citrus soil. Oospores of P. cinnamomi and P. parasitica were invaded when tested in two-membered cultures with C. anguillulae in sterile soil extract.
