Abstract

Moorhouse (1966, J. Med. Ent. 3: 168–71) described the attachment of male Ixodes holocyclus to females of the same species, and presumed that these males were engaged in feeding. The males usually attached to the female's venter somewhere along the genital groove. Detachment left a wound in the integument which quickly dried and became dark-colored, leaving a permanent scar.
