Abstract

A new species, Paraprotopsyllidium shouchangense sp. nov., is reported from the Lower Cretaceous Shouchang Formation (upper Barremian) in Zhejiang Province and attributed to family Paraprotopsyllidiidae. The newly described taxon closely resembles its relative species, known only from Burmese amber, which hints at a potential migration of entomofauna, particularly flying insects, from Southeast China to the West Burma Block before the mid-Cretaceous.
