Abstract

Abstract Paramphitrite tetrabranchia was found at three localities near Bergen in depths between 55 and 100 m. The species belongs to the subfamily Amphitritinae, and is characterized by having two pairs of branchiae, lateral lobes on the anterior segments, and 13 thoracic segments with notosetae which have finely serrated brims. The species shares characters with several genera of the Amphitritinae, but cannot be included in any of these without revision of the diagnosis of the genus in question; hence a new genus is erected.
