Abstract

As espoused by Guest‐editor Patrik Schumacher, the social function of architecture is at the core of the reformulation of Parametricism 2.0. Artist and philosopher Manuel DeLanda, who is Professor of Graduate Architecture and Urban Design (GAUD) at Pratt Institute in New York, argues for an innovative new approach to social processes that is compatible with Parametricism. He highlights the significance of the meso‐scale as a parameter; these are communities and organisations that operate between the micro‐scale of the individual and the macro‐scale of society as a whole.
