Abstract

The effect of multi-component excitations on the response of power transmission tower-line system is analyzed in this paper. Three-dimensional finite model of the system considering the geometric nonlinearity of transmission line is established. The multi-component and multi-support earthquake input waves are generated based on Code for Design of Seismic of Electrical Installations. Using the nonlinear time history analytical method, an extensive parametric study is conducted to investigate the behavior of the system under the seismic excitation. The parameters include the correlations between the three components of ground motions, the spatial correlation of ground motion, the incident angle of seismic wave, and the ratio between the three component peaks of earthquake motions.
