Abstract

The effect of silicon nitride particles on the dry sliding wear of Al6082 alloy composites manufactured by conventional stir casting method have been investigated. The percentage of reinforcement were varied from 0 to 12% in a step of 3. Response surface methodology has been used to plan and analyse the experiments. Result showed that sliding distance is the most influential factor and percentage reinforcement is the factor which affects the wear least. The interaction of percentage reinforcement and load, percentage reinforcement and sliding distance, load and sliding distance, sliding speed and sliding distance also have significant effects on the wear.
