Abstract

This paper represent the effect of different machining parameter on roughness of the surface and metal removal rateof newly developed Al hybrid composite material reinforced with Al2O3 and Rice husk ash (RHA). The design of experiment is conducted by Taguchi method with L27 orthogonal arry in which surface roughness and metal removal rate is the output response parameter and cutting speed, depth of cut and feed rate as input parameter. The result was analyzed by ANOVA. The results revealed by ANOVA that the Speed and Feed rate were the important parameter which influencing on roughness of surface but speed and depth of cut is the major parameters for MRR. The result shows that the surface roughness value was decreasing by the increment of reinforcement. Further this value also decreased owing to increase in amount of reinforcement. In case of MRR, value increased by the addition of reinforcement, But this value decreased because of more addition of reinforcement. The calculated data was compared with empirical data and conclude that, the error is very nominal and it has no impact on MRR and surface roughness.
