Abstract

The demand for advanced engineering materials with specific properties are increasing day by day. In this context, the composite materials play a vital role to fulfil these requirements. Several researchers are continuously working from the last few decades to make better the properties of composites which are environmentally friendly and reduce the problem of decomposition. Friction stir process is an energy-efficient environmentally friendly and versatile technique for the production of surface composites, In the present work, FSP was applied to fabricate surface composite of Al7075-T651. SiC and waste eggshell are used as reinforcement material. For the study purpose, tool rotational speed, tilt angle and percentage of reinforcement is taken into consideration to investigate the result after performing the tensile test and Brinell hardness test. The results show the improvement in both the tensile strength and hardness. The optimized value of unlimited tensile strength and microhardness is 395.57 MPa and 159.0577 at the process parameter tool speed, tilt angle and reinforcement are 1739.49 rpm, 1.96° and 6% of volume, respectively.
