Abstract

SUMMARY This investigation focuses on reducing the amount of engineering required in integrated snap fastener design. A common integrated snap fastener geometry is fully characterized using finite element analysis as a basis for parametric studies. An integrated snap fastener •design strategy based on allowable strain and geometry is developed using the results of parametric studies. The methodology employed in this research is applicable to other common integrated snap fastener configurations.
