Abstract

The parametric decay instability of an extraordinary electromagnetic wave into a high-frequency magnetized electron plasma wave and a low-frequency wave (mixed-mode kinetic Alfve'n wave or magnetosonic wave) propagating at an angle with respect to the static magnetic field has been considered. For the typical set of parameters of the tokamak when the kinetic Alfve'n wave is a low-frequency wave, the convective threshold is \ensuremath{\sim}10 kW/${\mathrm{cm}}^{2}$. .AE
