Abstract

Parametric decay instability of a pump wave with a frequency of the order of the ion cyclotron frequency and with a phase which undergoes a random walk is investigated for the case of a homogeneous plasma which consists of electrons and of two types of ions. Growth rate for the parametric decay instability has been found as a function of the ratio gamma /0/D, where D is the diffusion coefficient and gamma 0 the linear growth rate of the parametric decay instability in a pump wave with fixed phase.
