Abstract

In order to solve the trouble that SolidWorks Toolbox can’t meet the requirements of accurate design of gear, the parametric design process of gear is analyzed by SolidWorks secondary development and numerical simulation method, and the gear models are successfully created by macro. The tooth profile curves of each gear are fitted by MATLAB. Besides, the tooth profile curve errors of parametric design and Toolbox are calculated. The results show that the parametric design method is faster and more accurate whose error is far less than that of Toolbox method, because the tooth profile curve of parametric design is involute, while that of toolbox is replaced by arc. This provides a parametric design method for the rapid and accurate modeling of gears.
