Abstract
Nowadays, the garments with historical elements often are appearing in fashion shows and real life, and the historical-oriented style becomes very popular. The point of contemporary interest is historical sleeve shape. Between the 15th and 18th centuries, there were three different stages of costume design: Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo during which the sleeves of women's wear were varied. Historical sleeves are influencing the subsequent fashion design and indispensable excellent resource of inspiration. In this research the contours of women's sleeves were explored. This paper selects the famous brands Valentino and Chalayan, and analysis of an application of historical women's sleeve elements in the design. It provides a theoretical basis for the application of historical sleeve elements in contemporary women's wear, and a practical application in virtual reconstruction.
