Abstract

The paper presents a new technique for the design of current and speed controller parameters of a modified CSI-fed induction motor drive for stable operation. The mathematical model of the induction motor drive is developed in closed loop and the characteristic equations of the system are derived using perturbation about operating point. D-partition technique is used to determine the stable region in controller parameter plane. Frequency scanning technique is used to confirm the stability of the region in parametric plane. Final selection of current and speed controller parameters is done by comparing the transient response of current loop and speed loop for step variation in reference. The performance of the drive is investigated experimentally and compared with the simulated results to validate the designed controller parameters.
