Abstract

Pseudo-Rigid-Body (PRB) models provide a simple method for simulating large deflection of flexible links for compliant mechanisms. The PRB model is useful to analyze and synthesize compliant mechanisms. Therefore, increasing the accuracy of the PRB model for modeling flexible links is a necessary problem. This paper presents an optimization of parameters of PRB 3R model for modeling large deflection of flexible beams in order to increase the accuracy and working range of the model. The objective function is established based on the difference of the tip locus between flexible beams and the PRB model. The results demonstrate that the PRB 3R model obtains a high accuracy and a large working range.
