Abstract

Abstract A novel dual-motor multi-modes powertrain system for pure electric vehicle is proposed. By the control of the motor and clutch coordinately, there are four kinds of driving modes: single motor 1 drives alone, single motor 2 drives alone, dual-motor torque coupling drives and dual-motor speed coupling drives. These four driving modes are used to adapt to different driving conditions so that the efficiency of the whole vehicle can be improved and the mileage range can be extended. A parameter matching method is proposed. This method is based on the statistic analysis of the demanded power of driving cycle and restrained by the dynamic performance. It raises a mode shift strategy and a power split strategy both based on optimal efficiency. Compared with the traditional single-motor powertrain system, the energy utilization efficiency of the novel powertrain system can be improved significantly. Also the dynamic performance is improved.
