Abstract

Abstract This paper dealswith the numerical calibration of a new model for crop growth, which accounts for the effect of environmental factors as well as self-induced development and decay. After introducing and justifying the model equations, its identifiability is assessed using trajectory sensitivity method. The practical calibration problem is then considered and solved with the aid of a numerical search algorithm which is adapted to the calibration of experimental data from differing crop species.
