Abstract

This paper is focused on parameter estimation of an induction motor using extended Kalman filter (EKF). Large variations of stator resistance along with the load torque changes are considered and the EKF is utilized for estimating the motor state and time varying stator resistance. The direct torque control (DTC) algorithm is employed to achieve sensorless speed control in a wide range. The main advantage of this research is considering the sharp variations in the stator resistance to confirm the robustness of the proposed scheme. The proposed algorithm is implemented in MATLAB and different scenarios are simulated. The results confirm the capability of the proposed technique for speed control of the induction motor in a wide range.
