Abstract

In this paper, a simple robust and efficient technique for parameter and loss estimation of induction motor is proposed. This scheme uses the dynamic model of induction motor for prediction of motor parameter and losses. Induction motor load data are accumulated under running condition. From these performance data, stator and rotor resistances were estimated using the resistance estimation technique based on H- G diagram. Leakage reactance, core loss resistance and magnetizing reactance are predicted by taking these estimated resistances and accumulated load data as the input to the Particle Swarm optimization algorithm. The estimated parameters were compared with the obtained parameters from classical offline no-load and blocked rotor test as per IEEE guideline. Comparative study confirms that the proposed scheme can estimate parameters as well as different losses of induction motor with a good degree of accuracy.
