Abstract

Electron spin resonance measurements on irradiated single crystals of glycylglycine hydrochloride show that the free radical ClNH3–CH2–CONH–CH–COOH is formed. The protons attached to the alpha carbon atom and to the amide nitrogen atom contribute to the hyperfine structure. The ESR spectrum correlates well with the structure of the undamaged crystal.
