Abstract

ZnO single crystals doped with Gd 3+ by diffusion have been investigated by ESR at 35kMc/s. The spectra can be understood by a spin-Hamiltonian of axial symmetry. Further, a hyperfine interaction with odd Gd isotopes has been detected. An asymmetry of one set of finestructure lines indicates a lattice distortion in the environment of the Gd 3+ ions.
