Abstract

AbstractElectron spin resonance of X‐irradiated, fluorine‐doped, BeO powder is studied. Two single resonances with g‐factors of 2.002 and 2.012, and a characteristic doublet resonance, are observed. The resonance doublet, which has a splitting of (760 ± 5) Oe, is presumed to be due to F2−and is absent in chemically pure BeO powder. These results can be explained on the basis of a model in which the magnetic electron is localized in the 3s orbital of F− and interacts with the adjacent Be nuclei. The possible environment of the fluorine atoms is discussed.
