Abstract
Graph cut approach has evidenced to be trenchant strategy for the segmentation of digital images. Primary restraint of existing graph cut method is that of acute arithmetic calculation which use up tremendous processing time to carry into action. This paper aims on parallelizing jump flooding technique and push re-label scheme with NSP and BFS methodology on shared memory multicore system using OpenMP compiler directives. OpenMP API includes a rich set of library routines and environment variables which enables the parallelization of JF-Cut method within a framework where parallelism is achieved by sharing a single common memory among multiple co-processors. OpenMP remains live area of interest for research in segmentation of digital images as it accelerates computational speed of complex scientific applications like image segmentation using multicore architecture in shared memory mode.
