Abstract

In this paper, we present a method for the parallel solution of large sparse Lyapunov equations. The method is based on the balanced Bordered Block Diagonal (BBD) decomposition, which is known to produce matrix structures that are ideally suited for parallel computation. Experimental results will be presented for a Lyapunov equation with matrices of dimension 1,993 × 1,993.
