Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the performance of various parallel interference cancellation (PIC) techniques for a synchronous carrier interferometry/MC-CDMA uplink. Specifically, we compare the performance of the system with conventional PIC, TPIC (PIC with threshold) and block-PIC. While TPIC does not offer any performance gain relative to conventional PIC, a significant improvement in performance and capacity is seen with block-PIC relative to conventional PIC (at the cost of a slight increase in complexity). We demonstrate that the block-PIC method provides the best performance with a BER of 10/sup -3/ at 12 dB which is 1 dB off the single user performance.
