Abstract

As parallel processing computers have proliferated, interest in developing parallel computational algorithms has increased. Indeed, parallel algorithms have been developed for many of the ordinary serial computational algorithms. Some algorithms are highly parallel in their formulation although they were designed for serial computation, since most of their operators can be implemented as parallel algorithms without any modification. An algorithm containing such a natural parallelism consists of mutually independent operators which require for their execution the results of only a few other operators.
