Abstract
In this study, the three-dimensional unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved numerically using second-order Godunov projection method. Multi-grid is used to accelerate local iterations. Parallel implementation of the GodunovProjection method with multi-grid iterations is demonstrated and assessed for a lid-driven as well as a rotating disk driven cavity flows using Message Passing Interface (MPI) on the 64-bit, 32-processor SGI Origin 2000 parallel computer to study numerical issues such as the convergence of the scheme using different grid sizes and different multi-grid level s for local iterations and parallel performance issues su ch as the speedup and efficiency of the parallelization relative to the different number of processors used in the computations.
