Abstract

In1 this paper, a new parallel acceleration scheme for the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) decoder based on multicore platform is proposed. In this article we will focus our research on the following two aspects: Deblocking filter module, and HEVC parallel decoding method based on task level and data level. For these two modules, we propose a series of parallel optimization algorithms. Firstly, based on previous research, we propose a more efficient parallel deblocking filtering method based on CTU units, and then, Based on a multi-core platform, we propose a HEVC parallel decoding method combining task level and data level. From the experimental data, we can see that the parallel algorithm based on multicore platform has significantly improved the parallel speedup at different QP values, and the maximum speedup has reached 14.71. The high efficiency HEVC parallel decoder designed in this thesis can complete the real-time decoding of high HD, Ultra HD streams without any encoding tools.
