Abstract

Microalgae Parachlorella kessleri growth kinetics are analyzed in batch cultures under different light intensity and CO2 concentration. A microalgae growth kinetic model is proposed taking into account physiology variables. Moreover, lipid accumulation was investigated to compare with physiology variables results. The proposed model aims to be used in PhotoBioReactor (PBR) design and control. Parameters were estimated by nonlinear optimization and experimental data. Using a multivariable Monod structure the founded kinetics parameters are μmax=1.0841[d−1], KI=62.79[μmol/m2s] and KC=0.003[grCO2/gr]. The model was validated using a growth curve from different culture experiments and statistical analysis.
