Abstract

A parabolic function expansion for an arbitrary function in L 2 space is derived with the aid of the classical eigenfunction expansion theory of Titchmarsh. The Green's function in free space in terms of the parabolic function is expanded as an example. The theory is then applied to the integral transform of the Helmholtz equation in paraboloidal coordinates.
