Papular interstitial elastolytic giant cell granuloma concomitant with lichen amyloidosus in a type II diabetes patient

Abstract

AbstractThe papular variant of elastolytic giant cell granuloma (EGCG) is a rare variant of EGCG, and it is occasionally associated with metabolic comorbidities, including diabetes mellitus (DM). Although the mechanisms of developing EGCG are still unknown, one of the possible mechanisms for ECGC developing in a DM patient might be explained by hyperglycaemia‐induced inflammation. In this report, we described a case of papular interstitial EGCG mainly composed of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)‐9 bearing cells, concomitant with lichen amyloidosus in a type II DM patient.
