Abstract
A single injection dose of Betamethasone sodium phosphate and Betamethasone acetate solution illustrated significant chondrotoxicity using a physiologically relevant in-vitro model, which may be due to the preservative benzalkonium chloride or due to Betamethasone's crystalline structure, which is very similar to the monosodium urate crystals found in gout.
