Abstract

Introduction: Rotator cuff tears (RCTs) are common in the elderly and accelerate muscle atrophy and fatty infiltration. Satellite cells play a major role in muscle regeneration. However, there are few reports evaluating regeneration of human skeletal muscle tissue from degenerated tissues. The aims of this study were to compare gene expression profiles of satellite cells between torn supraspinatus (SSP) and intact subscapularis (SSC) muscles of RCT and to evaluate their potentials to differentiate into myotubes.
