Abstract

This study intends, from the analysis of the following statement Oh, daddy! I asked mom to take me to the toilet and she didn't want to take me there!!!, to reflect about how the instituted social roles im- poses discursive behaviors and how, in this case, the previous discursive ethos connected to each of this roles influence the discourse form to be produced, ratifying the attitudes that each one must have in relation to the others members of the social group. It is said, in this in case, not about a pre- discursive ethos connected to a speci- fic person, but about a representation aggregated to the social role that it is lived and on which a set of expecta- tions are projected. In this direction, it can be affirmed that the ethos is not always a result of the speech produc- tion, but that it comes out as a result of the ratification of previous images intrinsic to the social life and to stere- otypes strongly imposed with a secu- lar durability carried through on the people, molding them and compelling them to fulfill certain rituals and du- ties: the character, the corporality and the tone are already given and it does not let much space for manage- ment or to escape from the foreseen injunction. So, it can plead that the ethos does not result from the speech
