Abstract

Thomson scattering of ruby laser radiation by a nonrelativistic beam was investigated with the aid of a television-type detector based on an image dissector. The video signal was amplified first in an image amplifier consisting of two image converters. Panoramic investigation of the parameters of an electron beam with a density of the order of 1010 cm-3 is shown to be possible by recording the radiation emitted by the residual gas under the action of the electron beam and calibration of the Thomson scattering results.
