Abstract

Panniculus carnosus (PC) is a subcutaneous muscle system usually well developed in mammals. In humans, it is limited to the facial muscles, dartos and palmaris brevis. We report a case of subcutaneous sheet of muscle in the anterior abdominal wall that is a part of PC system. This is a rare presentation and will be of interest to the surgeons managing the anterior abdominal wall hernias.
