Abstract
(Objective: To report the occurrence of caval vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism caused by pseudocyst formation in a patient with chronic pancreatitis. Patient: A 36-year-old man with chronic alcoholic pancreatitis. Results: Pseudocyst formation adjacent to the inferior caval vein during an exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis was documented, as was inferior caval vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Conclusion: Pancreatic pseudocyst formation can cause inferior caval vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. The latter is a hitherto unreported complication of chronic pancreatitis with pseudocyst formation
