Abstract

The goal of therapy in chronic pancreatitis is to put the pancreas at rest. However, symptoms may continue despite intensive medical therapy, and radical surgical procedures may be necessary. Surgical exploration is warranted when the patient has a pancreatic tumor, because survival rates vary with the location of the lesion.
