Abstract
Finding endogenous, renewable sources for insulin-producing beta cells in the adult pancreas is one of the holy grails of stem cell research and regenerative medicine. Through lineage tracing and scRNA-seq approaches, Gribben etal. (2021) have recently reported that Ngn3-expressing ductal cells could serve as progenitors for new beta cells in the adult pancreas.
