Abstract

Solar evaporation based on photothermal conversion materials is an emerging technology for water purification due to its feasibility and sustainability. In this work, a low cost, easy to scale, and durable PAN@PPy nanofibers with core-sheath structure for steam generation device is reported. The PAN@PPy NFs presented an enhanced water evaporation rate of 1.633 kg·m−2·h−1 with solar-vapor conversion efficiency up to 83.5% under 1 sun. More importantly, practical water purification from heavy metal ion and organic dyes wastewater were also presented, which shows an efficient and low cost photothermal material for interfacial solar evaporation systems.
