Abstract

The scattered outcrops of Late Cretaceous deposits in the Borod Basin encompass different stratigraphic intervals. A section at Cornilel in north-west Romania has yielded a Normapolles assemblage, the composition of which supports an age determination of Santonian-early Campanian, suggested previously on the basis of the fauna it contains. The assemblage correlates with palynostratigraphical subdivision “f” already established for the Cretaceous sequence in the Southern Apuseni Mountains.
