Abstract
Palliative radiation therapy throughout it’s history and up to the present day remains the main method of local treatment to improve the quality of life of patients with incurable cancer. Advances in radiation therapy technologies and antitumor drug treatment and the evolution of the oligometastases theory have changed the prognosis for patients with metastatic cancer. New opportunities and prospects for palliative radiation therapy are associated with stereotactic ablative radiotherapy, and integration with immunotherapy and targeted therapy.
