Abstract

At the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa, an innovative psychosocial and spiritual collaboration for children with cancer and their families was established in 2012 from a mixture of public and non-governmental organisations, and private sources. This care service integrates carers and resources to address the dearth of child psychiatrists, psychologists, and other integrated therapists in the South African public health care system, providing an opportunity for more complex psychological support.
