Abstract

Abstract A variety of aryltin compounds can be employed for Michael-type hydroarylation reactions to α,β-unsaturated ketones and aldehydes in the presence of a catalytic amount of palladium(II) salt in acetic acid under air. Each reaction is much accelerated in the presence of a soluble metal chloride such as LiCl, MgCl2, and CaCl2. It is found that slightly fewer than four aryl groups of tetraaryltins can be transferred to the products in this arylation.
