Abstract

The word Paleo pathography is used to denote the study of the life history, in particular the diseases of a person, as deduced from ancient art, paintings, or sculptures. Using examples from modern and ancient art, it is shown that without the “laying on of hands,” the usual method of neurological instruction, it is possible to acquire a neurological education during pandemic times. Some examples of ancient portraiture and sculpture are provided that, to a careful eye, reveal the hallmarks of neurological ailments that affected the subjects during their lives. With the spread of distance learning and ever more powerful computational tools, such educational endeavors will also be useful in post-pandemic times [1].
